I’m a wedding film photographer based in San Diego, serving worldwide. I love this! We are having a 40 person black tie wedding with a ten course tasting menu reception. Our wedding will be in June, which is cutting it a little bit close COVID-wise, so we are including a question on our RSVP to ask if guests have been vaccinated. This option might not be appropriate for everyone but I just thought it was such a simple way of assessing risk/determining the level of mitigation necessary to ensure a safe event that I wanted to share in case itโs helpful for someone else!
Our colour palette is Forrest green and I want a bright pop of colour to go with it (bridesmaids are in forest green but I want the decor and bouquets to be vibrant and bright) but I donโt know what colour to chose, Iโm also a Thursday wedding, but all in one venue no travelling just hoping all our friends will take the Friday off work too so we can have a nice brunch somewhere with everyone ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ
Cavin, do you have any advice for couples separated from the covid boarder closure? We wanted to plan our wedding but it seems hard to be waiting to even see each other in person. I live in Canada and he lives in the USA. Border has been closed and extended closed each month for about a year now. I can’t wait to be able to put the video knowledge to good use when we canโค๏ธโค๏ธ
Our colors are navy blue, eggplant, and black with gold accents ๐ for our galaxy/starry night theme
I would love to see more representation of couples who get married regularly but who vendors frequently donโt include on their websites, mass wedding publications and ads (people of color marrying people of color, same sex couples of color, people over 40, folks with physical disabilities, individuals with larger bodies, etc).
Could you cover brunch weddings?
For the last year (since getting engaged) we knew we wanted color (terracotta, sage and sprinkle of mauve). We also knew early on when we were dating that weโd want a Sunday morning wedding and brunch reception. Unfortunately we have to have our wedding on Labor Day but it works out pretty well since lost are off that day. Weโre cutting back on the florals and doing really pretty terracotta vases for centerpieces so itโs elegant but appropriate for the slightly relaxed feel. Nothing about our wedding is typical and Iโm so glad because itโs US.
Yes! Love color. We are doing dark greens with pops of summer colors for our summer wedding ๐
WHAT is that beautiful feathery plant in the thumbnail? ๐ Iโve noticed that plant everywhere lately.
Thank you for saying weddings right now are not safe… So many brides have blinders on about that!
I hadn’t really thought of the Sunday thing being basically the same thing as a Saturday wedding for out-of-town guests. I could totally save another $1k by doing that. Thanks for the idea!
Hello if you’re new here! This video is growing quickly so I wanted to let you new viewers know that I post new videos every Tuesday and I have a collection of somewhere close to 100 educational videos on my channel. You can search my channel for a topic and I very likely have a video on it. If I don’t comment asking for it! And please be sure to subscribe, as that helps me grow my channel and keeps me motivated to post weekly content ๐
150 guest large wedding? In greece 150 guests are just the family ๐ 50 guests.. No chance.. We are planing with 800.. And this is also not big in greece ๐โค๏ธโค๏ธ
Love that this gives me the confidence for my color palette: Navy, Burgundy, Gold, Blush… I’ve been second guessing it for a while as I don’t see that many weddings with so many colors…. but Navy is my favorite color and Burgundy is my Fiance’s favorite too.
My wedding colors are Navy Blue, Burgundy Red, Ivory with a hint of green and gold
Omg love your ideas! Where did you get that dress?! It’s GORGEOUSSS
I love this! I feel like this was the โpermissionโ I needed to feel confident in making some of these decisions for my wedding despite the fears that itโs not the norm!
I love the colored wedding dress. I am doing that too. I worked as a wedding photographer and I agree. The smaller more intimate weddings are just wonderful! We are also doing our wedding outside. Super excited. It is funny that when you work as a photographer you see things differently. Like how will this look in photographs
I agree with everything youโve said. My wedding was going to be a Sunday for the same reason, however now it will be on a Monday because of COVID. Only 20 guests so at-least manageable for people to take off.
This video singlehandedly convinced me to add more color into our wedding and I’m so happy we are! We’ve decided to add color into our flowers (DIY flowers from a you-pick farm) and for linens we’ve decided on a blue napkin that makes me so happy. It’s just a happy color, if that makes sense. I was one of those brides who thought I had to go with green and white/ivory to be classic but I think we’ll be really happy with all the joyful and still classic color that we’re adding in! Just wanted to say I can’t thank you enough for giving me the push I needed/wanted to add more color!!
